Augustina Armstrong-Ogbonna and UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon A Nigerian journalist, Augustina Armstrong-Ogbonna has been awarded the United Nations Foundation Gold Prize for Development and humanitarian reporting. Armstrong-Ogbonna, a freelance journalist with Radio Nigeria (Radio One) won the Gold medal for her reportage on neglected coastal communities along the Lagos coastline that are bearing the drastic impact of sea rise as well as threats of displacement. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has ordered a rerun of Rivers East Senatorial election. It was the unanimous judgement delivered by a panel of three justices. The case was filed by Senator Magnus Abe of APC against against PDP’s  Senator Olaka Wogu who was declared the winner of the election into the Senatorial district by INEC. The court has also nullified the election of Senator Osinaka Ideuzo of PDP. In the unanimous judgement delivered by Justice Abdullahi, the court ordered a rerun of the election in 90 days. Twenty-three years after a military plane crash in which more than 159 officers lost their lives in Ejirin swamp in Lagos in 1992, then military ruler, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) has finally spoken on the ill-fated incident.
