APC govs disagree over Buhari’s stance on N5000 for youths

Image
A CRACK may have developed among the ranks of the governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor Tanko Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa State and his Imo State counterpart, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, yesterday took different positions in their reaction to President Muhamnadu Buhari’s decision to ditch the N5000 unemployment benefits to Nigerians. The governors gave their opinions separately yesterday while speaking with reporters after their meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja. To Al-makura, the President has the prerogative to so review any policy at any given time and his decision stands in as much as it is to the best interest of the nation. According to the Nasarawa governor, “the President is the person that can tell you precisely how he is working on campaign promises and interventions that he has created, using his ingenuity. And if at any point in time, the President is reviewing that issue, I think he is the only person that can do so in th

At Darey Art Alade’s “Love Like a Movie 3” last night, Grammy award winner Ciara brought the house down at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre as the audience received an unexpected treat they will remember for a long time. Shortly after completing her final performance of the night, the R&B superstar invited Nigerian dance queen Kaffy on stage to teach her some popular Nigerian dance moves. Ettu Mohammed Shades Dele Momodu On GEJ/PMB Ministers Comparison

Image
Jonathan's minister were more vibrant than Buharis minister. Dele momodu Bob dee is just an opportunist who profits from milking the rich. He is a man who always tries to sell the devil to us as an angel. He has never sold the story of the poor before because that would not fill his pocket with money. Look at the way he went about things in the last 5 months, first, as craft as he is he wrote a piece which got the presidency startled fiam he got an invite to the presidency af ter meeting with the president he then believed that would get him a ministerial slot he lost out eventually. The next shopping spree he went for was to enthrone the OONI of IFE, he took Prince Aderemi round the entire north from the Emir of Kano to the Sultan of Sokoto down to IBB the maradona. I begin to wonder what he took the ife chiefs for and is it possible for HAUSA/FULANI to enthrone a king known as the source of the yoruba race. As usual he failed again. Now that  he decided to face the poor

Made in Nigeria: Four Lesson From China @9jaclicktivist

Nigeria can improve its performance in its new found love in Made in Nigeria products through transformational change in its educational system, channelising small savings, and a  incentive getting  labour forces to transfer to emerging production sectors  Nigeria and China are  populous countries, Nigeria is the most populous here in Africa. Nigeria and China had very high initial poverty levels. But today, if we look at the development indicators of these two nations, we find a lot of difference between them. The development initiatives of China could be more relevant for Nigeria rather than policies undertaken by developed European and North American countries, as China is a latest success example of a large, over-populated, largely illiterate and economically backward  country, which achieved success in a very well-planned manner within a very short period of time. We must not forget that the European and North American countries achieved the same feat of development over a lon

APC chieftains bicker over board appointments

Image
CHIEFTIANS of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) across the country are at loggerheads over the sharing of positions on the boards of government parastatals and agencies. The problem, which has the prospect of tearing the party apart, had been on ground even before President Muhammadu Buhari sacked the heads of no fewer than 26 heads of parastatals and agencies of government. Trouble started after Chief John Odigie-Oyegun leadership of the party mandated chairmen and vice chairmen of the 36 States chapters of the APC to come up with a list of fifty nominees from their respective States that would form the pool of those to be considered for board appointments. Rather than call a meeting of stakeholders of the party, The Guardian was reliably informed that most of the states chairmen and vice chairmen opted to pick their cronies and relatives as their preferred nominees for board appointments into agencies and parastatals of government. The situation was further compoun

Saraki, Dogara Reject N10 BN For Official Quaters

It was also learnt, at the weekend, that Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt.. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, have rejected the N10billion voted in the 2016 budget of the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the building of their official quarters, opting for a cut in the vote. Saraki and Dogara, according to National Assembly sources, last week, agreed that the cost of the buildings should be reduced to one billion Naira each, to save the country N8billion. They were said to have informed the chairmen of the Committees on FCT in both chambers to reflect the decision in their report to the Committees on Appropriation. The Senate President and Speaker said in view of the economic situation in the country and the need for public officials to be frugal, building houses worth N6bn and N4bn respectively for them was insensitive. The two top legislators said the FCT ministry should scale down the cost of the projects or forget the idea until a

‘FREE ESE’ CAMPAIGN: Abduction, forced marriage of 14-year-old Ese shock Nigerians

Image
The story of 14-year-old Ese Oruru and the travail of her parents over the past six months have caused an outrage on the social media and beyond. In August 2015, Ese, then 13, was abducted by one Yinusa and taken to Kano, where he converted her to Islam and married her. Ese’s mother, Mrs. Rose Oruru, a food vendor in Opolo, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa, said Yinusa was a longstanding customer. Since August 12 when her parents made the shocking discovery, trips to Kano, the involvement of the police and efforts to get the Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, at whose palace the girl is believed to be held to resolve the matter and ensure the return of the 14-year-old to her parents have failed. While her mother was told that Ese had converted to Islam and, therefore, was no longer her daughter, her father was told that his daughter was an 18-year-old adult and not 14, hence she was capable of making decisions for herself.
