The Cambodia-based footballer set the record after walking a total distance of 48.08km from the Redeemed Christian Church of God camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, on March 6. An Indian soldier Naib Singh had broken the world record for travelling the farthest distance balancing a football on the head after walking a total distance of 45.64km in his country in 2014. In an amnesty published in Government Gazette No 36, general notice 85/2016, Mugabe pardoned all convicted female prisoners regardless of offences, with the exception of a few serving life sentences. “A full remission of remaining imprisonment is, hereby, granted to all female prisoners regardless of offences committed, save for those sentenced to life imprisonment and to death,” part of the order reads. Chikurubi Female Prison, which was home to 246 prisoners, released 139 inmates yesterday. Some of the prisoners were due to serve lengthy jail terms for murder, fraud and armed robbery. Those who remained behind are inmates still on remand and a few foreigners, who will be released to their respective governments. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, on Tuesday said the Federal Government had begun the process of appointing a new set of ambassadors to represent Nigeria in various countries of the world. Onyeama stated this at a news conference to mark one year anniversary of President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration The 26 non-career ambassadors and ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary on tour of duty abroad were recalled in June 2015. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) may soon submit a list of those convicted, under probe, the fleeing suspects and those watch-listed to the relevant agencies in the UK.
