A Saudi Arabian billionaire arrived London last week with a fleet of gold cars worth more than £1million, according to a report by UK Daily Mail. The vehicles include a £370,00 Mercedes G63, a six-wheel off-roader (top right), a Bentley Flying Spur (bottom right), worth £220,000, a £350,000 Rolls Royce and a £350,000 Lamborghini Aventador SV (pictured together, left). Dollar Scarcity: Foreign Airlines Raise Fares By 100%

Foreign exchange risk is now a major component of airfares on Nigerian routes, the country managers of top foreign airlines have revealed. Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the airlines operating on international routes in the country had increased airfares by as much as 100 per cent as a result of the development. A survey of all the major Nigerian routes flown by the foreign airlines in the country showed that the cost of return tickets had been increased by between 80 per cent and 120 per cent of the previous fares, depending on the carrier, time of booking and the season. The survey cuts across Nigeria-North America routes, Nigeria-South Africa route, and Nigeria-Europe routes. Airfares on the Lagos-London, Abuja-London, Lagos-New York, Lagos-Atlanta, Lagos-Houston, and Lagos-Johannesburg routes were examined. Minister restates government’s commitment to youth development

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Soloman Dalung has reiterated his ministry’s resolve to partner with National and Voluntary Organisations oThen viable programmes for youth development. The minister made this assertion when the delegation from the Duke of Edinburgh International Award for Youths paid him a courtesy visits in his office. He said: “We are interested in rescuing the deteriorating youth situation and we must definitely have a bench mark position so that we can disconnect what we have today and re-orientate and redirect what we have coming up tomorrow”. Dalung said one of the challenges facing the country is the problem of leadership and expressed delight that the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award for Youth Foundation has resolved to partner the ministry of youth and sports in addressing the problem. N’Assembly committee detects fresh errors in 2016 budget after 3 months of Deliberation

The Senate and House Joint Committee on Appropriation has detected fresh errors in the 2016 budget, it has been revealed. It was gathered that the errors were responsible for the failure of the committee to present its report to the two chambers of the National Assembly on Wednesday as it had promised as the dliberation hits 3 month Investigations, however, showed that the errors would not affect the plan of the National Assembly to transmit the budget to President Muhammadu Buhari before Easter as efforts were being made to correct them. For example, in 2013, the sum of N527,000,000 was budgeted for the item; in 2014, N1,161,356,582 was allocated to the same item; in 2015, N316,420,274 was budgeted for it; and N1,710,322,610 is to be spent on the procurement and installation of security system in the SGF office in 2016.It was learnt that one of the anomalies detected was in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, where provisions had been made for...

NBC Bans Another Olamide's Song, 'Don't Stop' For Vulgar Lyrics (Snapshot)

Just months after The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned Olamide's 'Bobo' for vulgar lyrics, the organisation has banned another of the singer's song- 'Don’t Stop' for the same offence. The NBC in a memo stated that examples of phrases in the song that necessitated the blacklisting includes:  "I just wanna hit it now now now," "Je kin wo be ( let me enter 'the place' )," "don’t stop, take it," "Oun tami oun ro mi," (my private parts are hurting me) "It took your mama 9 months to make it," "wa gba ponron (come and let me give you my joystick )."  etc

Bloggers, tweeters brand Senate anti-women gathering

For shutting down the Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill, bloggers and other social media activists berated the Senate on Tuesday, branding it an anti-women body. The bill was aimed at promoting gender balancing, girl child’s access to education as well as enforcing key international treaties on gender equality. But it could not proceed to the second reading as the lawmakers voted against it.
