If only the Federal Government of Nigeria can tap into Kogi's massive mineral resources and rescue Nigeria from darkness and provide an alternative revenue generation with the dwindling oil price. If you don't know Kogi State has enough coal deposit (some 250million metric tons) to supply Nigeria electricity for at least 300 years and enough limestone to supply the country cement (at, say 50milion metric tons pa) for at least a hundred years. The Environmental impact assessment was done in 2006, the coal deposit is within the confines of river Niger. A confined system was recommended that will settle and filter the solid while the clean water flow back to River Niger. A coal-fired power plant was designed which could be up to 15,000 MW this will supply steady base electricity while other plants can make up the 50,000 MW based on our country's projected need as at 2006. The comptroller general of the customs, Colonel Hameed Ali (rtd), has said that N20 billion would be required to upgrade security equipment in all international airports around the country. He disclosed this while on a tour of inspection of the state of security equipment at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, alongside the minister of finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun. The move, he noted, has become imperative owing to the mundane state of most of the airport security equipment, a situation he said is not in tune with world best practices. “Most of the equipment are out of date and do not meet the present situation, hence the need for the review of the whole system  and we are not looking at one airport, but our international airports.The moment we can make a seamless operation for traders and passengers they would want to use our own airports in the  transaction of their businesses. This would enhance trade facilitation and in turn increase revenue generation,”...

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola of Osun during the week renamed all tertiary institutions in Osun State. Aregbesola announced the change at the convocation of the Osun state University, UNIOSUN where he named Osun State University after former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, the late Chief Bola Ige.
