Nigeria: Shall This Also Come to Pass? by Olunubi Táyéloluọbaọmọ
"If PMB fails (God forbid!) to address much of the rots in our polity, then it's bye to Nigeria's redemption"
This statement has been the rhetoric coming from Nigerians in the recent time and it shows the level of despondency of many.
Now, for the president not to allow this come to pass he must apply the
force of law on acts of impunity. Without addressing the IMPUNITY
SCOURGE, sanity can't reign. The lawless among the rich and poor won't
learn the lesson of cause and effect. The economic and political
criminals will always damn the consequences knowing full well that the
arms of the law cannot keep in touch with them.
When vandals dare the government, no other song can be understood by them other than the use of brute force.
When fuel ⛽ marketers who got their premises sealed off by the DPR for unwholesome practices, remove the authority's seal and sell at nights, no other sermons will enter their ears aside strict application of force.
When a group of thieves have exhausted all manner of shenanigans and tricks to evade justice, but failed. And what their damaged medulla oblongata tells them to do is to begin to doctor the laws to suit their whims and caprices, the only language they can understand is the Bar Beach Therapy.
When citizens think of no other way to survival or meeting their needs, but to defraud their neighbors and rape the polity to coma, the only corrective therapy that can assuage their "psycho-kleptomania" is express government meal of a saucy beans and yam.
It is only when there is punishment for wrong that people will respect the rights of others.
It is only when there is a reward for evil, that evildoers in the land take caution.
It is only when some people see others suffering for the consequences of their sins that they will be discouraged from falling into the same error.
It is only when the goats are put into a well secured seclusion that they will stop feasting on our yams.
People must be made to fear and have respect for the law. People must made to know that truly the law is no respecter of persons. Whipping is the surest way of arresting the tantrums of a madman.
Not until the full weight of the laws is brought upon the unrepentant killers of the Nigerian system, whatever gains the PMB administration may make will go down the drains.
If we continue on this reckless and directionless drive, the Nigerian vehicle will head for an irredeemable fatality.
May God help us to help ourselves. May our leaders receive divine boldness and courage to destroy the gods of mammon in our land. And may those who are bent on keeping us in Egypt perish with their chariots and horses. May God Almighty visit them with the madness of Nebuchadnezzar, in Jesus name.
