Osun Will Be Open Defecation Free By 2023

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, Water Resources, Rural and Community Affairs, Mr Muftau Oluwadare has revealed that State of Osun will be open defecation free by Year 2023.The Permanent Secretary made this known while delivering a speech at the debriefing meeting on review of Water Sanitation and Hygiene documents held at the Conference Room of the Ministry.Mr Oluwadare commended the stategovernment for the provision of toilets along major high ways aimed towards making the state open defecation free. He then called on the Stakeholders to support the efforts of the government to realize this objective.The Project Coordinator of EuropeanUnion Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Programme, Mr Ademola Olanrewaju ,who presentedthe resolutions of the retreat on the water policy, Water law, water supply and hygiene monitoring and evaluation framework and open defecation free road map said that there must be concerted efforts to achieve the objective.Mr Olanrewaju explained that European Union has supported the state to develop some key strategic development documents for the Water and Sanitation Sector. He added that some of the documents on ground are no longer in tune withthe realities in the state which calledfor review.

Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State said on Friday that the government, Bank of Industry, business tycoon Aliko Dangote and some states will acquire the Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Ltd (PAN). El-Rufa’i who said this during the state’s special day at the ongoing 37th Kaduna International Trade Fair, named the other states as Katsina, Kebbi and Jigawa. Senate moves to enforce patronage of local goods

THE Senate, Wednesday adopted a motion seeking the amendment of the Procurement Act to compel all government agencies and institutions to give maximum priority to patronising locally made products. Adopting a two prayer motion moved by Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe (PDP Abia South) titled “Need For Patronisation of Made-in-Nigeria Goods,” the Senate urged the Federal Government to initiate and implement the first option policy on purchase of locally manufactured goods for any government procurement in all arms of government and every public funded organisation. It also urged both the National Assembly to amend the Procurement Act to ensure that as a matter of law, agencies of government and government funded institutions adopt ‘the made-in-Nigeria’ goods first option policy and where consideration is first given to the local industry before any other.
