Circle Interchange: Ghana Opens West Africa’s Longest and Highest Flyover In Accra

President of Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has commissioned an outstanding interchange, a beautiful piece of road infrastructure to replace the old Circle Roundabout in Accra on Monday, 14th November, 2016.According to President Mahama, the interchange becomes the longest and the highest flyover in West Africa.“It is the longest, highest fly over in West Africa,” the president declared to an ecstatic crowd of government officials, party supporters, political leaders and the general public.The facility, which has three flyovers, also has a recreational facility, library, bus terminal, restaurant, fire, police and ambulance stations.The site also has an imposing statue of Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah which is “a fitting memorial in honour of the greatest Pan Africanist.”“Nkrumah’s statue will remind people about the man who led the way to our nation’s birth,” the President said.The project is “not just a modern interchange but a convenient place for tourism. The health and happiness of citizens are also important,” he stressed adding, that the citizenry can always take astroll at the water park with the beautiful lighting architecture.He said the new interchange will “facilitate easy movement of goods and services” onone of the most busy roads in Accra.“Experts estimate that, the congestion thatused to be created here as a result of the heavy traffic and lack of traffic flow, resulted in an estimated loss of about$100 million per annum to our national economy,” he added.The president hinted that the Kasoa interchange which is also near completion will be commissioned before the end of December 2016. He also promised that a number of interchanges will be built and other major roads will be dualised across the country in his second term.  He mentioned Pokuase interchange, Tema motorway road and Accra to Kumasi road will also be dualised.Ghana is rising and greater times are ahead of us, as he promised. We will continue to work hard and change lives of Ghanaians.The project cost 74 million Euros.

THE Senate, Wednesday adopted a motion seeking the amendment of the Procurement Act to compel all government agencies and institutions to give maximum priority to patronising locally made products. Adopting a two prayer motion moved by Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe (PDP Abia South) titled “Need For Patronisation of Made-in-Nigeria Goods,” the Senate urged the Federal Government to initiate and implement the first option policy on purchase of locally manufactured goods for any government procurement in all arms of government and every public funded organisation. Kaduna, Dangote, BoI, Others To Acquire PAN – El-Rufai

Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State said on Friday that the government, Bank of Industry, business tycoon Aliko Dangote and some states will acquire the Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Ltd (PAN). El-Rufa’i who said this during the state’s special day at the ongoing 37th Kaduna International Trade Fair, named the other states as Katsina, Kebbi and Jigawa. He said a proposal to acquire the majority shares of the company had already been submitted to Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON). According to him, the step is part of efforts to revive ailing industries in the state to provide huge employment opportunities to the teeming unemployed youths in the region and Kaduna State in particular.
